Bryce D. Hardy, Owner
Bryce Hardy knew when he and his wife Kerri and their daughter moved to Wethersfield that this would be the perfect setting for his life long vision to create a new kind of dining experience. He finally realized that dream in 2019, with the purchase of the E. G Robbins House in Old Wethersfield. After almost two decades in the restaurant and hospitality industry, he knew it was time to bring his vision to life. Combining his love for great food, creative cocktails, and exceptional service Bryce began to build his team with the best in the business. He opened the doors to The Charles on June 15th, 2020.
Angela Hornyak, Director of Events
Angela Hornyak is our Director of Events. She grew up in Glastonbury and graduated from Roger Williams University with a BA in Dance/Performance. While she never made it to Broadway, Angela treats each of her events like an individual performance.
Her introduction to producing events happened when taking a position as an event assistant for First Night Hartford. It was here that she learned all the inner workings of how to execute events and thought to herself "this is just like a choreographed performance!"
Angela has now been in the hospitality industry for over two decades and has had the privilege of working in some of Hartford area's best restaurants and venues. She cultivated her experience by managing restaurants including the Max Group, Bricco and Bears Catering, to managing events at prominent entertainment venues such as The Bushnell and Infinity Music Hall.
With the support of her cast of characters and collective experience, each event produced by The Charles will have the critics yelling 'Bravo!'
Kandy Lyons, Executive Pastry Chef
Chef Kandy Lyons was born in Indianapolis Indiana in 1980 and graduated from The Art Institute of Indianapolis with honors in Baking and Pastry. Kandy first worked in a restaurant at age 14, then worked many years in the warehouse industry before pursuing her passion for pastries. Working her way towards her dream, her first professional restaurant job came in 2017. Kandy attained the Chef of The Wadsworth, a bistro café in Downtown Hartford, CT. With much perseverance and determination, she moved herself into the Head Chef position of Republic at The Linden. A bistro pub restaurant for the same company.
After two years with Max Restaurant Group, Kandy landed the Corporate Pastry Chef position for DORO Marketplace. For three years Kandy used her passion, culinary knowledge, and experiences to help expand the business. We’re thrilled to have her as our Executive Pastry Chef, bringing along years of experience and unmatched creativity.
